What are the Advantages of LASIK Eye Surgery?

  • Desired vision is achieved in approximately 96% of patients after LASIK.
  • Pain is not felt with the drug drop used, only the touch is felt.
  • Vision improves almost immediately or the day after LASIK. The correction will continue in the coming weeks and months.
  • No bandage required after LASIK.
  • If vision changes due to aging, LASIK can be performed again years after LASIK to further improve vision.
  • After applying LASIK, patients experience a dramatic reduction in the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses, and many patients no longer need them.

Is LASIK Safe?

LASIK has the highest safety rate in medical operations. The safety and effectiveness of LASIK has been proven through scientific evidence gathered by hundreds of academic medical researchers.

What are the Disadvantages of LASIK Eye Surgery?

Despite the pluses, LASIK is a delicate eye surgery compared to other methods.

  • LASIK is technically complex. The Eye Surgeon who will perform LASIK surgery must be very experienced.
  • Although rare, it may be necessary to use lenses or glasses for very good vision. This can happen especially at very high numbers.

What are the temporary side effects that may occur after LASIK Eye Surgery?

Some patients experience discomfort within 24-48 hours after LASIK eye surgery. Other temporary side effects, albeit rare;

  • Glare
  • Seeing spaces around images
  • Difficulty driving at night
  • Fluctuating vision
  • dry eye

After the LASIK operation, you will experience a healing process for 4-6 months. During the recovery period, some patients may experience the temporary symptoms mentioned above. These complaints, which improve over time, are not vision-threatening complications or adverse events. Rarely, subsequent operations may be required and are easily performed. There is no difficulty in removing the flap again, and the subsequent correction operation has no drawbacks.

How is LASIK Eye Surgery done and what is the recovery process?

  • Eye numbing drops are given before surgery to prevent pain.
  • The eyelid holder keeps the eye open, preventing blinking.
  • A suction ring is placed over the eye and the thin transparent layer called the flap is removed.
  • The surgeon can use either a “microkerotome” or a surgical blade called a “femtosecond laser”. The flap is folded back to expose the middle part (stroma) of the cornea.
  • Excimer Laser shapes the tissue of the cornea.
  • The corneal flap is placed in place. It boils again in a few minutes without stitches.
  • Eye drops are applied to aid healing. After surgery, your eyes may burn, itch or be irritated. This usually disappears within a day. It is important not to rub your eyes as this can move the flap. You will likely see your vision improve the next day, although it may take about 4-6 months for vision to stabilize.

Are you suitable for Laser Eye Surgery?

YES:

If the number of your eyes has not changed for at least a year, if your eyes and general health are good, you are suitable for surgery.

In the US, the FDA has approved LASIK for anyone over the age of 18. Conditions that occur later in life (such as cataracts) may affect eligibility, but advanced age is not crucial to becoming LASIK. If you have had cataract surgery and cannot see and need to read with glasses, Excimer Laser surgery may be a good choice for you.

NO:

Excimer Laser surgery may not be suitable for you if you are pregnant, if your diabetes is not under control, if you have systemic diseases such as HIV, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding periods must be completed in order for pregnant patients to undergo Laser Eye treatments.

We are here to evaluate and discuss the best options with you. You can always call and contact us.

When can I go back to work?

You can return to work the next day after LASIK surgery. After LASIK surgery, slight discomfort may only last for 1-2 days.

In other LASEK, PRK or No Touch Laser methods, postoperative recovery and discomfort continues for 5-7 days. Laser application is done in both eyes on the same day, respectively. So you can return to your daily life faster.

How long will it take?

Total preparation and working time is about 10-20 minutes, the operation itself takes only seconds. Local anesthetic eye drops are used to numb the eyes before surgery.

What tests are applied before LASIK eye surgery?

Before the operation, detailed tests should be done: The thickness of the cornea and the degree of refraction should be measured. Corneal mapping (topography), eye pressure and pupil dilation should be measured. After these tests are done, your Doctor will answer any questions you have in mind. Then, you can make an appointment for the decided Excimer Laser operation.

How should I prepare for a checkup for LASIK eye surgery?

Stop wearing your hard contact lenses about a week before the evaluation we mentioned above. Soft lenses should be removed at least 3 days before evaluation. Come to the consultation with your glasses so that your numbers can be reviewed.

Preparations for the Surgery Day

  • Plan to bring a relative with you to drive you home after surgery.
  • On the day of surgery, have a light meal before going to the doctor and take all of your regular medications.
  • You may want to bring sunglasses as your eyes may be sensitive to light after surgery.
  • Remove eye makeup or temporary false eyelashes. It’s okay if you have permanent false eyelashes or permanent eye makeup.

What happens during LASIK eye surgery?

During LASIK eye surgery, the corneal flap is painlessly lifted and the underlying corneal tissue is reshaped with the Excimer Laser. After the cornea is reshaped to focus the light correctly on the retina, the corneal flap is put back in place and the surgery is complete. LASIK is done under local anesthesia in the form of eye drops and usually takes about 10 minutes. Patients may also request mild sedatives.

Post-Surgery Care

After LASIK eye surgery, your doctor will give you prescription eye drops to prevent infection and dry eyes. These drops can cause a sudden mild burning or blurred vision when you use them. Do not use drops not approved by your eye doctor.

Do not take a shower and do not touch your eyes with water for 24 hours after the LASIK operation.

If you have had PRK or LASEK, do not take a shower for 72 hours, that is for 3 days, and do not contact your eyes with water. Your doctor will see you for a checkup the day after surgery.

Do not use anything that can irritate your eyes and do not put your hands on your eyes. If you experience tears, you should simply wipe the drops from your face without touching your eyes.

After a pain reliever you can use and a good night’s sleep, you can enjoy your new vision.

Is it possible to get rid of Glasses and Lenses with Laser Eye Surgery?

Forget about your annual eye cosmetics consumption, the cost of glasses and more importantly, losing your glasses and lenses! Don’t you want to get rid of all the trouble and expense related to your glasses and lenses? Tired of living with your glasses or contact lenses?

Imagine how nice it would be to dive, ski, jog, ride a bike at the bottom of the sea without needing any of these!

LASIK is currently the most common Laser Eye operation performed voluntarily by the patient and is the most frequently performed operation in the world.

Can my vision worsen after Laser Eye Surgery?

After Laser Eye Surgery, the changes made by the laser to the cornea are permanent and completely stable. Your eye quickly adapts to the new vision after surgery.

However, it is possible that the number of your eyes will change due to the inevitable aging process of the body in the years after Laser Eye Surgery. It should be noted that this has no effect of Laser Eye Surgery.

Unfortunately, along with various parts of our body as we age, our eyes can also change in negative ways. Presbyopia is the most likely defect we will encounter for deterioration in our vision due to aging. Presbyopia is a problem that begins to affect everyone between the ages of 45-65.

This does not mean that people who have had Laser Eye Surgery will never wear glasses again. You may need glasses in the future due to the natural effects of presbyopia.

The good news is that Laser Eye Surgery can always be performed over and over to compensate for these minor changes with a simple adjustment or enhancement procedure.

Recommendations to Recovery and Post-Surgery Care After Laser Eye Surgery

Our eyes are among the most valuable and sophisticated parts of our body. The eyes are one of our most impressive and powerful defense and healing organs known in the human body.

Our eyes can protect itself against light and dust using an adjustable shield, fight infections using a transparent anti-bacterial fluid layer, and heal quickly thanks to its unique regenerative ability.

All these features do not mean that our eyes are incredibly durable, they mean that it is possible to correct congenital or age-related focusing errors and permanently improve your vision using Laser Eye Surgery.

As a result of laser treatments applied to your eyes with powerful and minimal surgical intervention, the healing process takes place quickly and comfortably. Most patients notice improvement in their vision as soon as they exit Laser treatment and return to their regular daily activities the next morning, achieving approximately 80 percent of improvement within the first week.

Laser Eye Surgery is still the best known surgical procedure.

Fastest and Painless healing process

It is important to know that experiencing some pain during the healing process is an inevitable part of any typical surgical procedure. However, Laser Eye Surgery is a minimal surgical application that will cause you the slightest pain and heal as soon as possible.

Laser Eye Surgery is performed with such a short and minimal surgical intervention that you can see without glasses after the treatment and you will recover very quickly.

The only discomfort that patients may experience after treatment is that they feel very mild pain during the first few hours. Your eyes may feel a little watery and a little sensitive to light after the surgery. However, in the vast majority of patients these effects are hardly noticeable and heal very quickly. Using the eye drops provided to you regularly will speed up the recovery of your eyes after surgery.

It is not common for patients to experience pain after LASIK, Smart Laser or SMILE surgeries. It should be noted that especially after traditional PRK/LASEK surgeries, patients experience discomfort for 3-4 days and cannot return to their daily life immediately.

Returning to work after surgery

The majority of patients who underwent Laser Eye Surgery can return to work 24 hours after their treatment. This period is valid for LASIK, SMILE or Smart Laser surgeries.

If you have had LASEK/PRK surgery, it may take a little longer, those who have this surgery should plan to return to work after about seven days.

Getting back to work or daily life quickly is a priority for most patients. However, when you get back to work, there are a few things to keep in mind to help support your recovery.

Today, we should not forget that we blink less because we work by looking at the computer in air-conditioned office environments. Blinking less and air-conditioned environment can cause dry eyes. Our recommendation is to moisten your eyes thoroughly with artificial tears for a while after the surgery, to keep our eyes moist and to relax them.

For example, if you work in an environment where there is a risk of dust or fumes getting into your eyes, you need to be very careful. If you have to work in such environments, you will need to take appropriate precautions, such as safety glasses, to avoid causing eye irritation or unnecessary complications.

If you have to work in a sunny environment, wearing sunglasses with 100% UV protection is a must for the first few weeks of recovery.

Driving After Laser Eye Surgery

The most important factor in driving a vehicle is to have good vision. Many people who have had Laser Eye Surgery find it takes time to get back in the driver’s seat.

If you have had LASIK or Smart Laser Surgery, you can drive in as little as 24 hours. After surgery, many people experience a free and happy experience when they start driving with eyes that can see without glasses after a long time.

How quickly you return to your normal life after LASIK and Smart Laser Eye Surgery depends on the hospital you go to for treatment and your surgeon. At Nişantaşı Hospital Eye Center, more than 95 percent of LASIK and Smart Laser patients have normal driving ability on the first day after surgery.

Laser Eye Surgery treatments we apply for all our patients are standard (except LASEK and PRK), and the day after your treatment, your Surgeon will clearly inform you whether your vision meets the driving standard as a result of the consultation.

After your surgeon’s check on the first day after your surgery, you will be free to use your car. However, you should be careful to only drive short distances for at least a few days. It is quite normal to see small bursts of light and halos around the lights you come across while driving at night.

Such ‘side effects’ are to be expected and are part of the eye’s healing process. Most patients experience these effects very mildly, and many do not notice them at all. More detailed information about the natural side effects of Laser Eye Surgery that you may encounter during recovery will be given to you by your Surgeon.

After the surgery, we recommend all our patients to sit in the passenger seat and rest as much as possible with their eyes closed until they reach their homes. On the day of the operation, a relative should come with you and take you home to use your vehicle after the operation and accompany you. Likewise, the next day, it is required to bring it back to your appointment for the first day control.

Using TV, Computer and Smartphone After Laser Eye Surgery

After your LASIK and Smart Laser Surgery, it may be scary to be unable to look at any screen, not be able to see any whatsapp messages, and not be able to follow your social media accounts, even for a short time! But knowing that this period will not be more than just 24 hours may give you some relief. Moreover, the more you stay away from these devices during this time, the faster and more painless your recovery process will be, and you will quickly return to your daily life.

During the 24-hour screen-free period, we recommend stretching your feet and spending some quiet time away from screens in a comfortable, low-light dim environment. During this 24-hour period, take a break from your work, use your eye drops regularly and try to rest by closing your eyes.

At the end of this period, do not forget that your eyes may dry out if you will continue to look at screens and especially to use a computer. You will need to stay with you frequently to use eye drops to relax your eyes.

Doing Sports and Bathing After Laser Eye Surgery

If you have decided to have Laser Eye Surgery, you should avoid doing sports and sweating for a while. But the good news is that it won’t take long.

After Laser Eye Surgery, your eyes go through a completely natural and expected inflammatory process. Because of this, your eyes become a little more sensitive than normal for a while.

For this reason, you should take a break from strenuous activities to help the healing process or to prevent active substances such as sweat, dust or smoke from coming into contact with your eyes.

For this reason, it is recommended that you take a bath so that water does not touch your head and eyes until 24 hours after the operation, and take a break from your sauna, steam room or jacuzzi. It is also recommended that you do not exercise or do sports for three days after your LASIK surgery.

You can do light activities such as walking and stretching without sweating during this time and return to activities such as jogging, stationary cycling and small weight lifting on the third day.

Since the cornea will still be in recovery mode for the first few weeks, it’s important to avoid sweating and rubbing your eyes with your hands during this time. By the second week, the texture of the cornea will improve further, making it safe to participate in sports such as tennis, squash, swimming, mountain biking, and skiing.

Physical and high-impact sports such as boxing, martial arts, water skiing should generally be avoided for at least one month after your treatment. Consult your Surgeon to find out when it would be appropriate for you to return to your sport or activity.

Travel After Laser Eye Surgery

You cannot drive for the first 24 hours after LASIK Surgery. This does not mean that you cannot travel by vehicle. After the first 24 hours, you can drive, go on a plane, ship or bus trip.

The only thing to keep in mind is to have eye drops with you to keep your eyes moist and comfortable as your eyes will still be sensitive and the air is very dry due to the air conditioning effect in the airplane cabin.

Can I Put On Makeup After Laser Eye Surgery?

It is important not to wear make-up for about a week after laser surgery. However, this is; It does not cover general make-up products such as lipstick, blush, concealer and foundation. Using only general makeup products should be avoided for the first 24 hours after your treatment.

Make-up products that are undesirable to use for seven days are only valid for products that surround or come close to the eye, such as eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara.

Laser Eye Surgery Recovery Process and Eye Care

Recovery after Laser Eye Surgery is usually incredibly fast and uneventful, with most patients returning to their normal life the next day.

However, in order to ensure a healthy and stable recovery, it is recommended that you follow a series of post-operative care rules during the first 12 months following your surgery and visit our hospital by making an appointment with your surgeon for control.

The first care must be done the day after the surgery. Further care is given in the following 3rd or 4th week, the following 3rd month and 1st year, or as often as our surgeon deems necessary for each patient. During appointments, your Surgeon will check your vision and do tests on how healing is going.

Below we ask you to examine in detail what constitutes a high-quality maintenance program. First, let’s look at the recovery timeline calculated by averaging our LASIK patients. It is slightly slower for LASEK / PRK and slightly faster for SMILE. As mentioned before, we would like to remind you that our patients need an adjustment period after Prespyopia Smart Laser surgery.

The laser eye surgery recovery process normally takes three to six months. But do not be discouraged; this process is simply the time it takes for your vision to reach 100 percent and for dry eye symptoms to resolve. In the first few days after treatment, your vision will reach optimal levels.

Be sure to check out the recovery timeline to get an idea of when you can return to your normal life and when you can return to certain activities. If you have any questions about a particular activity, you can ask your Surgeon without hesitation.

First 24 Hours

You will see improvements in your vision immediately after your surgery.

During the first few hours, your vision may be a bit foggy or blurry, so it is recommended to rest and keep your eyes closed during this time.

It is recommended that you be taken from the clinic by a relative. We strongly recommend that you do not take the underground metro transport later in the day, but you can take a taxi or open-air public transport.

You can return to your light activities at home, but you should not touch your eyes or stay away from objects that come into contact with them.

Stop using all your screen electronics to avoid eye strain and get a quick recovery. Avoid all reading activities that will strain your eyes.

Be careful to take a bath without soap or water touching your head and eyes.

Stay away from air-conditioned environments and use the eye drops given to you regularly.

You may experience very mild itching or dryness. Avoid rubbing your eyes and relax your eyes by using moisturizing tear drops instead.

Next Day

On the first day after your treatment, you will visit our hospital for your first control appointment.

Here, your surgeon will check that all is well and you will get back to most of your daily activities.

We recommend that a relative bring you to the hospital.

You can watch TV as long as you use tear drops to prevent your eyes from drying out.

You can go back to work, we recommend wearing UV-filtered sunglasses and looking at the computer screen. Do not forget to use your eye drops during your work.

You can fly, travel by air. However, keep eye drops on hand as the air in the cabin is very dry.

Be careful not to get soap in your eyes.

At night, you can see halos and flashes of lights around the lights. These will gradually decrease as the edema in the cornea decreases.

3rd Day

By this time, the sensitivity of the cornea has decreased. You can return to the gym and do light exercises such as jogging, stationary cycling and light weight lifting. To prevent sweat from entering your eyes, you should avoid rubbing or touching your eyes.

You can make up, use aftershave.

As your eyes continue to heal, a small amount of fogging and fluctuations may occur. Be careful when driving, especially in low-light conditions.

Avoid vigorous and strenuous exercise. Pay more attention to your eyes than usual.

2nd Week

Effects such as flashes of light at night will gradually fade over the next few weeks and the effects will appear in 3-4 weeks. It continues to be evaluated in your weekly and 3rd month care appointments.

You can start doing sports such as swimming, football, tennis, squash, mountain biking, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing and skiing.

Avoid high-risk sports such as boxing, martial arts, water skiing and extreme sports for at least one month after the procedure.

However, despite some warnings, you can start applying eye makeup again.

4th and 6th Months

Some of our patients may experience dry eye symptoms for several months after their treatment, which can be relieved with tear drops or by washing your face. As time passes, these symptoms gradually decrease and disappear completely. Since Presbyopia smart laser treatment is different from other laser treatments, the healing process is slightly different. The full recovery process after Presbyopia smart laser surgery varies from person to person. The improvement of vision depends on how quickly our brain adapts to the new way of seeing. The more natural the field of vision, the faster our brain adapts to the way we see. For this reason, most people with Presbyopia adapt to their new vision within a few weeks. As a result of Presbyopia laser surgery, it takes approximately 4 to 6 months for both near and far vision to be 100% compatible. This process is faster for some patients and slower for others. In this process, closely monitoring the quality of your vision regularly with your doctor will ensure that your adaptation process is in the best possible conditions.

You should definitely have your 4th month control and 12th month control done.

Frequent Eye Check-Up

All your checkups after your Laser Eye Surgery are free of charge. This is often an indication of a hospital that cares about its patients.

Apart from regular check-ups at the clinic every few weeks or months, there are a few important points to be considered in a quality post-operative care program.

24/7 Consultancy After Surgery

Although it is extremely rare to need your surgeon, it is very important to keep in touch with him for your post-operative checkups and care, regardless of the duration.

You can always reach our patient coordinators with any communication method for your questions. You can always call your surgeon and have your controls done. No matter how good your recovery process is, all our patients must be in contact with our Surgeons throughout this process.

Our Clinic Stuff

The reality of having surgery can be a little scary for anyone. Therefore, it goes without saying that we have a highly trained and experienced team that can calm, comfort and assist you throughout the entire process.

We are always here for you

Like the rest of our body, our eyes change and age over time. In our patient-oriented Hospital Service, you are never treated as a one-time patient, we will do our best to make you feel with us for life from the first day.

Dry Eye Sendrome

The most felt temporary side effect of Laser Eye Surgery is the “dry eye” discomfort. That’s why we provide tear drops to all our patients.

We want you to keep your eyes well moist and wet with the drops provided to you, and use these eye drops whenever you feel mild discomfort or irritation. We recommend using these eye drops, especially in an air-conditioned room or when using a screen for an extended period of time. Dry eye symptoms usually improve within 3-6 months, but in some cases it can take up to a year.

After SMILE Laser operations with FemtoSecond, it was observed that the side effect of “dry eye” was significantly reduced.

Light Sensitivity

Some light sensitivity is expected after Laser Eye Surgery and normally decreases within the first 12-24 hours. During this time, we recommend that you avoid looking at extremely bright, high and intense lights and wear sunglasses if it’s sunny.

Blurry Vision

You may experience blurred vision immediately after surgery, but this will decrease as your vision stabilizes. In the first week after surgery, you will feel that your vision has changed or fluctuations have decreased. This is a normal part of the healing process and nothing to worry about.

Falos of light and Flashes of Light

Halos of light and flares are types of flares that can occur in low-intensity light conditions and at night. Haloes are glowing rings around lights.

Each is a result of temporary corneal edema resulting from surgery and is therefore experienced to some degree by each patient and gradually subsides in the first few weeks.

What do the Costs of Laser Eye Surgery and Cataract Surgery according to Treatment Types differ?

Since Presbyopia Smart Laser Surgery can be performed with the 4th Generation Excelsius Excimer Laser, you should know that this treatment cannot be performed by other hospitals or clinics. Presbyopia Smart Laser Surgery is the only method that corrects near vision defect with Excimer Laser, that is, LASIK management. Smart Laser application cannot be applied by other clinics in Turkey. The Smart Laser method is a surgical operation performed with a Smart Laser on both eyes on the cornea, without the use of a Smart Lens, namely Multifocal or Trifocal Lens. For this reason, Smart Lens (Multifocal or Trifocal) is almost 65% more economical than cataract surgery.

The first factor that determines the price in Myopia, Astigmatism and Hyperopia eye defects with the LASIK Surgery method is the quality of the surgeon. The second element is the technology used and the hospital or clinic environment where the operation is performed. Our Excimer and FemtoSecond Laser devices used in LASIK Eye Surgery are designed and equipped with the latest 4th generation technology. All of our laser devices used are 2022 models. We strongly recommend that you have your Laser Eye Surgery in a Hospital environment.

Do not forget that a full-fledged Hospital environment has fully invested in all the staff/equipment required by the Ministry of Health for Eye Surgery and has the service standard to meet all your needs. Therefore, Eye Surgeries performed in a Hospital environment may differ from Eye surgeries performed in Clinics or Medical Centers.

The most important factor that determines the cost in eye surgeries performed with PRK, LASEK and Notouch methods is the quality of the surgeon. Operations performed with these techniques require superior surgical experience. Since these eye surgery techniques are included in the 2nd generation surgeries and require a more painful and long recovery period for the patient, they are no longer among the preferred methods.

The Supracor Presbyopic LASIK method is a 2nd generation method applied to hypermetropic patients and has now lost its validity. Smart Laser therapy, which is a method that eye clinics that cannot apply LASIK can recommend for the treatment of Presbyopic patients, Supracor is an operation that requires a long recovery period and is almost twice as expensive as Smart Laser Eye Surgery, thanks to a prosthetic ring placed in the eye so that patients can see up close. Treatment of presbyopic patients While Smart Laser treatment is possible, we definitely do not recommend SUPRACOR surgery to our patients.

Cataract surgery with Multifocal or Trifocal Lens is performed by many clinics. It should be noted that Lens Replacement surgery is recommended for patients suffering from Cataract. Cataract surgery with a Multifocal or Trifocal Lens for patients who do not experience cataracts is 3 times more expensive than LASIK or Smart Laser application. We definitely recommend LASIK for Myopia or Astigmatism eye defects, and Smart Laser Surgery for Hypermetropic and Presbyopic, that is, nearsightedness defect in patients who do not develop Cataract at a young age. The first factor that determines the cost in Multifocal Lens/Lens (Cataract) Surgery is the quality and function of the lens placed inside the eye. The secondary factor that determines the cost is the Quality of the Surgeon. Cataract surgery is a more risky surgery compared to LASIK surgery. For this reason, it should be performed by a very experienced surgeon in a fully sterile Operating Room in the Hospital environment. We recommend that you pay attention to the fact that your Surgeon performing the Cataract Surgery is very experienced, especially in Cataract surgeries. Finally, we recommend our patients with visual impairment who do not have cataracts to have LASIK surgery instead of Smart Lens.

What affects the price in hospitals that perform Laser Eye Surgery?

Technology: If a Hospital can offer the latest and greatest technology, you can expect to pay more for these treatments.

Type of Procedure: Procedures such as LASIK, SMILE or Smart Laser that require minimal surgical intervention that other clinics cannot do are more expensive than standard surgeries.

By Prescription: Some clinics may demand more payment from patients with a prescription, that is, with a higher eye degree. It is very likely that a clinic will change the price of treatment according to the patient’s prescription.

Unfortunately, the prices initially stated in the advertisements made by the Clinics may reflect the treatment fees of the minimum prescription patients. However, after the patient’s examinations, it is understood from the patient’s complaints that the clinics increase these prices according to the patient’s prescription.

Location: The prices of clinics with only one location in Istanbul or doctors with practice may differ compared to national clinics. It is seen that national clinics/hospitals with multiple branches apply a fixed price.

Final care: Some clinics can reduce their costs by charging patients for their final care separately (an important detail to consider when calculating the total costs of the surgery, as it is not included in the prices stated in the advertisements).

Company Size: Hospitals with branches across Turkey benefit from economies of scale and you can often get lower prices. Clinics with only the most experienced surgeons can naturally be more expensive.

Should I Avoid the Cheapest Surgery?

You should definitely avoid it. Low price means cutting corners. This can be fine if you’re buying a cheap television, but you shouldn’t gamble with your Sight. You cannot give up on choosing the safest and most effective Laser Eye treatment, from the most experienced eye surgeon in the world’s technology age, to have a meticulous scan, to have surgery with the advanced cutting-edge technology, in a comprehensive hospital environment. None of these conditions is more important than your eye health. Do not forget that the latest Eye Surgery Technology used today is definitely not cheap, because it is not possible for clinics that perform surgery at cheap prices to provide you with this technology and standards.

Are There Additional Costs?

We offer you our prices in a very understandable, fair and affordable way. No extras, no hidden costs.

Is It Worth Going to Surgery Abroad?

Definetly not. Eye Surgery treatments applied in our Hospitals are performed with state-of-the-art equipments, which very few clinics have even in Europe. Smart Laser application, which is especially applied for Presbyopia patients, cannot be applied as know-how even in Europe. Due to the state-of-the-art technology and experienced Eye Surgeon staff used in our hospital, many patients from abroad come to Turkey and have their Laser Eye treatments done at our Hospitals in Turkey. We can say that Laser Eye Treatments performed abroad are 2 to 4 times higher than the treatment prices in Turkey and the country. We would like to remind you that in any Laser Eye treatment you will spend abroad, you need to know a good level of foreign language in order to communicate with your doctor.

Last Things to Consider

The Cost of Surgery is an important element in your decision-making process. However, cost should not be the most important consideration when choosing a laser eye surgeon and/or Hospital. When choosing a Hospital, you should choose a hospital that provides the best possible care to its patients and has the highest success rate and reputation. Make sure your surgeon is one of the most experienced laser eye surgeons. You do not need to take risks by going to the cheapest clinic.

PRK (Photorefractive Keratoctomy) NO-TOUCH

PRK with its new name NO-TOUCH is the oldest type of laser eye treatment. In the treatment of PRK (NO-TOUCH), it involves scraping the epithelium to access the cornea or destroying it by exposing it to a long-term laser. The cornea is reshaped with a laser and then a protective lens must be worn during the patient’s recovery period. After this procedure (5-7 days), it is a very painful and painful process for the patient. This is rarely used today, but is an alternative for patients with very thin corneas that would not be considered candidates for laser eye treatment.

LASIK (Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis)

This is the most common type of laser therapy and is relatively painless. By creating a flap cover in the cornea, the stromal layer is exposed. Then the cornea is reshaped with an excimer laser beam, and then the flap cover is closed again and the surgery is completed within 15-20 minutes. This procedure; It is the most common Laser Eye treatment method in the treatment of near, far and astigmatism eye defects.

LASEK (Laser-assisted epithelial keratomileusis)

In this procedure, the epithelium (the thin layer of cells that covers the cornea) is peeled back, revealing the Bowman’s layer. This is then reshaped with a laser beam and the epithelium is replaced. This treatment is the most suitable option for patients with thin corneas.

SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction)

This is a new laser eye treatment that is an alternative to LASEK and LASIK treatment and requires minimal surgical intervention. This procedure is performed by separating the tissue in the stromal layer with the beam applied to the center of the cornea using the FemtoSecond Laser, which is produced by only two companies in the world, instead of creating a flap cover in the cornea for the laser. The separated tissue is then removed through a small slit in the cornea, and the surgery is completed.

The SMILE application is only used to correct up to 2 degrees of astigmatism and myopia vision defect. This treatment is generally suitable for Myopia patients. SMILE application cannot be applied to Presbyopic patients. Excelsius Femton F1 FemtoSecond Laser device is one of two FemtoSecond Laser devices capable of SMILE.

When you come to your appointment, you will be greeted by our staff and similar screening questions will be asked again. You will be given a disinfectant application and a fresh face mask for your hand hygiene during your visit. Your body temperature will be checked by a non-contact digital thermometer. After being checked, you will be admitted to the hospital to be taken to your appointment.

We have reduced the physical paperwork for you as much as possible.

By minimizing your time in the reception areas, your first machine tests will be done quickly and you will be taken to the examination room with a mask and hand sanitizer applied. You can access hand disinfectant in our hospital so that you can use it when moving from one area to another.

To maximize safety, we will not be able to serve hot drinks, but you can meet your water needs in disposable cups from the sheltered water dispensers.

Our staff will wear disposable gowns / uniforms and masks. Our staff are screened and checked daily for symptoms, temperature and contacts. COVID-19 control tests are applied to our staff when necessary in our hospital.

Our staff always applies disinfectant to the examination equipment and furniture you use during your appointment.

We recommend that you do not bring anyone other than the family members you live with to your appointments.

Please do not hesitate to contact us by phone, sending an e-mail or filling out the form on the website. We will get back to you as soon as possible when your request is received.

Your patient relations coordinator will call you back as soon as possible and schedule your appointment at a convenient time.

Please note that you must follow the Hospital Rules so that we can provide effective social distancing.

If you have any questions about vision, please first call our hospitals on the phone.
